Synthesis and spectral studies on Copper (II) complexes of two twelve-numbered and a four-numbered tetradentate macrocyclic ligands

Copper (B) complexes of general composition Cu(L)X2 (where L=3, 9-diethyl-2,10-dimethyl-1, 4, 8, 11-tetraazacyclotetraadeca-1, 3, 8, 10-tetraene (DSLB); 2,9-diethyl-2,10-dimethyl-1, 4, 7,10-tetraaaza-5, 6, 11, 12-dibenzo tricyclo [12, 44] dodeca-1, 3, 7, 9-tetraene (DSLC); 3, 8-diethyl-2, 6, 9, 11-tetramethl-1, 4, 7, 10-tetraazacyclodorodeca-1, 3, 7, 9-tetraene (DSLD); X=Cl, NO3, 1/2 SO4) have been synthesized. The complexeshave been chatacterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic suseptibility measurements, i.r., electronic and e.p.r. studies. The complexes are found to stablize tetragonal geometry except Cu (L)SO4 which is a five coordinate square pyramidal geometry. (author)
