Alliances project: integration, analysis and design software environment for storage and disposal

  • 1. CEA Saclay, 91 - Gif sur Yvette (France)
  • 2. Agence Nationale pour la Gestion des Dechets Radioactifs (Andra), 92 - Chatenay-Malabry (France)

Description

The goal of Alliances is to provide a working environment for the simulation and analysis of phenomena that must be taken into account for waste storage and disposal studies. Alliances is a software platform allowing : - the simulation of the characteristics phenomena of all the disposal and storage situations, these characteristics are used to select the numerical components and methods implemented in the platform; - the choice and coupling of different numerical components; - the simulation of multi-physical and multi-scale phenomena; - the uncertainties analysis related to data and models; - the studies management and traceability. Examples of Alliances applications are the following case studies: - flow and transport of radioactive elements through porous media (Couplex benchmarks), - geochemistry in the near field of waste canisters and cells, - canister safety performances, including sensibility analysis, - safety performance assessment of storage sites (East site at Bure, France).
