Crystal structure of Nd4Cu2O7

  • 1. Cambridge Univ. (United Kingdom). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

The structure of Nd4Cu2O7 (A2/m, a = 8.449 A, b = 3.759 A, c = 12.601 A, β = 109.57 ), prepared by topotactic reduction of the high-Tc superconductor parent phase Nd2CuO4, has been determined from time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction data revealing a new oxygen vacancy-ordered arrangement containing cooperatively distorted Cu2O3 planes in which 2- and 4- coordinate Cu- sites are present.
