Total-electron-yield soft X-ray absorption spectra of engine oil additives rubbed on alloy surfaces

Description
To clarify the friction mechanism between metals and engine oil, soft X-ray absorption spectra of the metal surfaces rubbed with fundamental engine oils were measured with a total electron yield (TEY) method. X-ray absorption spectra of the engine oil layers on the metal surfaces can be successfully obtained by subtraction of spectra from metals. The obtained CK-XANES of the engine oil layers will provide the chemical state information of the rubbed engine-oil/metal interfaces. (author)

金属とエンジンオイルの摩擦メカニズムを解明することを目的として,基本的なエンジンオイルを介して摩擦させた金属面を全電子収量軟X線吸収分光法で観察した.エンジンオイル層の軟X線吸収スペクトルを得るため,金属由来のFeL端ピークをモニターピークとすることで金属由来のスペクトルをバックグラウンドとして削除した.この方法により摩擦部と非摩擦部におけるエンジンオイル層のCK端XANESを抽出することができ,特に摩擦面における薄いエンジンオイル層の状態分析ができる見通しが得られた.(著者)Additional details
