Resistance of a nitride-containing steel to superheating during electroslag welding

Description
The effect of nitrides in steels of the 12 KhM type on grain growth, intragranular structure, distribution of non-metallic inclusions and the tendency to the brittle fracture of the metal in the superheating zone during electroslag welding, is considered. It is shown that fine-dispersed nitrides do not have enough time to dissolve in the superheating zone and delay significantly grain growth in the zone. Microalloying of steels, suitable for electroslag welding without normalization, with aluminium nitrides, is recommended
