Limits on a new U(1) coupling
Description
The existence of a new U(1) gauge coupling is considered. The range and strength are not constrained. The coupling is constrained by the demand that the model be anomaly free and that the right-handed neutrino not be light. Phenomenological bounds are considered in detail. Assuming that the symmetry breaking occurs at the weak scale, it is found that the gauge boson would be undetected if its mass were between 1 MeV and 7 GeV or if its mass were less than 10-8 eV.
