Gamma-radiation effects on some biological and physicochemical properties of polyenic antibiotics

The effect of gamma-rays on polyene antibiotics was examined. It was shown that gamma-irradiation causes a process of radiation-chemical oxidation of these substances. The toxicity of aromatic levorin heptaene was insignificantly affected by high radiation doses, whereas the toxicity of non-aromatic mycoheptine and amphotericin B heptaene preparations was increased by high-intensity gamma-rays.
