The Melosh transformation and electromagnetic form factor predictions

Description
General considerations, based on the assumption of a non-trivial Melosh transformation, are shown to lead to relations among form factors for the electromagnetic transitions of baryons. All contradictions arising from the identification of the two sets of SU(6)sub(w) generators ('currents' and 'constituents') are seen to be evaded, and the remaining predictions are in accord with experiment. The assumptions concerning the transformation properties of the electromagnetic current and the predictions for the different groups are discussed. (author)
