Determination of the blood volume on young trotters with J131-HSA (RIHSA)
Description
We have examined the accuracy of our method of determining blood volume and its utility under field conditions on forty trotters of the same age. Furthermore we were interested in to what extent it is possible to conclude from the quantity of blood emitted by the corresponding blood reservoirs on the capacity of sport horses. The blood volume determination was carried out with J131-human-serum-albumin, after we had excluded the usability of Cr51 by reason of radiological protection. Our results show that the methodical total error, which we had determined from four different controls is so low under field conditions that our method can be used in the field with highly evaltable results. The percentage of blood emitted by the reservoirs gives information only about the momentary capacity of a horse. It is not an objective measure for the future capacity of a growing horse for this is influenced by too many endogenic an exogenic factors. (orig.)

An vierzig gleichaltrigen Trabrennpferden wurde das Problem untersucht, mit welcher Genauigkeit die von uns angewandte Methode der Blutvolumenbestimmung in der Praxis einzusetzen ist. Ferner interessierte, inwieweit man von der Menge der Blutvolumenausschuettung aus den entsprechenden Blutspeichern auf die Leistungsfaehigkeit eines Sportpferden schliessen kann. Die Blutvolumenbestimmung wurde mit Hilfe von J131-Humanserum-Albumin vorgenommen, nachdem die Verwendung von Cr51 aus Gruenden des Strahlenschutzes ausgeschlossen wurde. Wir kamen zu dem Ergebnis, dass der methodische Gesamtfehler, den wir aus vier verschiedenen Kontrolluntersuchungen ermittelten, bei den Versuchen unter Praxisbedingungen so niedrig liegt, dass der von uns benutzte Untersuchungsgang mit gut auszuwertenden Messergebnissen in der Praxis angewandt werden kann. Die prozentuale Blutvolumenausschuettung gibt nur ueber einen momentanen Leistungszustand des Pferdes Auskunft. Sie bildet jedoch kein objektives Mass fuer eine zukuenftige Leistung eines noch im Wachstum befindlichen Pferdes, weil sie von zu vielen endo- und exogenen Faktoren beeinflusst wird. (orig.)
