Description
The properties of the space-charge-limited current in a coaxial diode are investigated. It is shown that the space-charge limited current J(rc) per unit area at the cathode surface is inversely proportional to the square of the cathode radius rc for a specified aspect ratio. Therefore, the electron beam current for a unit axial length is inversely proportional to the cathode radius.
