Radionuclide inventory analysis of the SMR smart 330 MWT reactor

Description

Radionuclide inventory analysis of the SMR SMART 330 MWT reactors have been done. The analysis was performed for the first core and transition core to obtain the equilibrium core. Transition cores formed by reshuffle, removal and loading new Fuel Assembly (FA) from the end of cycle (EOC) to the beginning of cycle (EOC) of next core configuration. Simulation inventory calculations performed using ORIGEN2 program. The result is mass as a function of the reactor core burn-up and inventory of radionuclides as a function of burn-up. The highest radionuclide inventory came from the first core configuration. Those radionuclide activities came from groups Kr(Kr-88), I(I-131), Xe(Xe-133), and Cs(Cs-137) with values are 5.77E+06 Ci, 8.80E+06 Ci, 1.77E+07 Ci and 9.71E+05 Ci respectively. These results have a high value activity, therefore the reactor must have best design and safety features. Those feature to protect workers and people of from exposure coming from radionuclides during normal operation and an accident conditions. The other result also obtained the equilibrium core and it achieved after the second transition cores. Equilibrium core is a core configurations in which the mass of radionuclides at the beginning of the cycle (Beginning Of Cycle / BOC) and the End of Cycle (End of Cycle/EOC) for the ith and (i+1)th transitions core have a similar value. By obtaining the equilibrium core, then the model for reshuffling, refueling and loading of FA is appropriate. (author)
