Method of operating a radioactive liquid waste concentrating apparatus

Description

Purpose: To suppress corrosions to the stainless steel materials by adjusting the pH value of liquid in a concentrating apparatus. Method: The radioactive liquid waste concentrating apparatus comprises a device for receiving and neutralizing radioactive liquid wastes and an evaporative concentrating device for radioactive liquid wastes. An excess sodium hydroxide is supplied to the device for receiving and neutralizing radioactive liquid wastes to adjust the pH value to greater than 10. Particularly, in order to keep the pH value near the concentrating device to greater than 10, sodium hydroxide (or further H2SO4) is added in a conventional manner to a liquid waste neutralizing tank so as to increase the pH value in the liquid waste neutralizing tank and the pH value in the concentrating device to greater than 10 previously, to thereby adjust the pH values therein.
