Na2O-V2O5-SO3 system

  • 1. AN SSSR, Sverdlovsk. Inst. Khimii

Description

Methods of X-ray phase, microscopic, thermogravimetric analyses, IR spectroscopy and EPR were applied to study phase equilibria in the Na2O-V2O5-SO3 system. Two new compounds of Na3VO2(SO4)2 and NaVO(SO4)2 compositions are found, their physicochemical properties are determined. It is stated that the Na2S2O7-V2O5 system in contrast to M2S2O7 V2-O5 (M=K, Rb, Cs) systems is not quasibinary. Interaction between vanadium (5) oxide and sodium pyrosulfate (250-400 deg C) followed by SO3 release into the gas phase and partial vanadium reduction up to the tetravalent state
