Application of radiotherapeutic methods in the treatment of malignant tumours of the skin

  • 1. Weil Emil Korhaz-Rendeloeintezet, Budapest (Hungary). Foevarosi Onkoradiologiai Koezpont

Description

The clinical symptoms and the applied therapy of 2340 neoplasms of the skin (in 2098 patients) were analyzed by statistical methods. On the basis of sup(32)P-accumulation, pigmented basaliomas could be safely differentiated from melanoma malignum. By application of the tide-dose-fractionation (TDF) factor the radiotherapeutical results can be better compared. In the case of Tsub(1) and Tsub(2) tumour sizes surface radiotherapy combined with diathermy gave excellent results. Tsub(1)-Tsub(2)-Tsub(3) tumours in the nose-mouth region were successfully treated by sup(226)Ra needles whereas tumours in the nose and ear apperture were irradiated by sup(60)Co-spheres. In cases of Tsub(4) tumours infiltrating the bones good results were obtained by telecobalt irradiation. (L.E.)
