Description

Objective: To explore the clinical significance of Determination of changes of plasma leptin and serum hs-CRP, IL-6, IL-8 levels in patients with acute pancreatitis. Methods: Plasma leptin, serum IL-6, IL-8 (with RIA) and serum hs-CRP (with immuno-turbidity method) levels were measured in 30 patients with acute pancreatitis and 35 controls. Results: Plasma leptin and serum hs-CRP, IL-6, IL-8 levels were significantly higher than those in controls (P < 0.01). Plasma leptin level was positive correlated with serum hs-CRP, IL-6, IL-8 (r = 0.6132, 0.5786, 0.6218, P < 0.01). Conclusion: Detection of plasma leptin and serum hs-CRP, IL-6, IL-8 levels is clinically useful to monitoring progress and prognosis in patients with acute pancreatitis. (authors)
