Effect of gamma rays and ethymethanesulfonate in M1 and M2 plants of black barley cultivar and its hybrid with arivat

Description

Effect of gamma rays and ethylenethane sulfonate in M-1 and M2 plants of block Barley cultivar and its hybnd with arivat.Groups ofB.barley seeda and its hybrids with arivat were irradiated with 0,15,20 and 25 Krad of gamma rays using Co-60 source.Other groups, irradiated with the above memtioned doses were treated separately with 0.3 EMS.Seeds were cultivated using complete randamized block design. The results showed that seed germination of block barley was significantly reduced in most treatments. No significant reduction in seed germination was found in the hybrid.Significant delay in the 3rd leaf stage of black barley was observed in all treatments, while the delay was found only in 25 krad and 25 krad 0.3 EMS treatments of the hybrid.Significant reduction in the number of tillering was found in all treatments of both cultivars.Weight of 1000 seeds were increased in all treatments of both cultivars.Groups of 2000 seeds of M1 were planted from each treatment. Results showed that 21 and 16 variants were found from block barley and its hybrid,respectively.(5 tabs., 1 fig., 14 refs.)
