Radioactive residues, radioactive waste, disposal. The terminology

Description
When dealing with radioactive residues and waste, difficulties in defining terms are often encountered in practice. In the absence of explicit legal definitions, it is not easy to formulate the waste and residue regulations of a nuclear facility in a completely consistent and unambiguous manner. At this point, three central terms of the nuclear back end, namely "radioactive residues", "radioactive waste" and "disposal", will be examined in more detail and clarified.
Abstract (German)
Beim Umgang mit radioaktiven Reststoffen und Abfällen begegnet man in der Praxis immer wieder begrifflichen Abgrenzungsschwierigkeiten. Mangels ausdrücklicher gesetzlicher Definitionen ist es gar nicht leicht, etwa die Abfall- und Reststoffordnung einer kerntechnischen Anlage in völlig konsistenter und eindeutiger Weise zu formulieren. An dieser Stelle sollen daher drei zentrale Begriffe des nuklearen Back End, nämlich "radioaktive Reststoffe", "radioaktive Abfälle" und "Entsorgung", näher beleuchtet und präzisiert werden.Additional details
