Multi function CAMAC (MFC) module for changing resonant frequency of the RF cavity using stepper motors
- 1. Electronics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
A multifunction CAMAC module has been developed to control stepper motors and for generating programmable pulse output. This module has two groups of quad stepper motor controller with a facility of driving one out of four motors from each group and four independent pulser outputs with a facility of programmable duty cycle. The stepper motor controller portion of the module is used in LINAC booster for tuner and coupler operation. Pulser is used for Q factor measurement and cavity testing. MFC is a general-purpose module and can be used any where to control stepper motor and programmable duty cycle generation. This paper discusses the design and features of the MFC and its use in LINAC. The complete design is incorporated in high complex CPLDs. The VHDL design, it's compilation, functional simulation, and synthesis was carried out using existing EDA tools. (author)
