First results on dose evaluation during transition to CR mammography in Murcia, Spain

Computed radiography systems (CR) from three different manufacturers have been introduced in mammography imaging in the Region de Murcia. Several problems found during initial set-up are reported. Only one manufacturer provides ESAK reference values to the IPs. The adjustment of the other CRs is based in radiologists' preferences. A dosimetric survey with patients undergoing mammography imaging denotes that both screen/film and CR technologies impart similar radiation doses but there is a broad range of ESAK regardless of technology.
