Weak couplings of heavy quarks

Description
Formulas relating the transition matrix elements involving the charmed quark, U/sub c/d, U/sub c/s, and U/sub c/b, to experimental data are given. For illustration the existing data are used to estimate or bound Vertical BarU/sub i/jVertical Bar. With the additional assumption of six quark flavors, U/sub i/j can be related to Kobayashi-Maskawa angles (theta1,theta2,theta3,delta), and the allowed regions in a sintheta2-sintheta3 plane are exhibited. When combined with the constraints from the K0-K-bar0 system, an accurate determination of U/sub c/s is shown to lead to unique values for
