Low-energy electron focusing in a crystal

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad (Russian Federation). Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

Focusing and defocusing of 0.5-1.5 keV energy electrons, propagating along atomic chains in the presurface region of Nb(100) single crystal, is studied. Intensities of quasielastic and inelastic (with excitation) reflection plasmon depending on azimuthal plane of primary beam incidence are investigated. It is shown that the process of inelastic scattering with single excitation of a volumetric plasmon in niobium does not lead to electron defocusing. 15 refs.; 3 figs
