studies on the extraction of certain elements of nuclear applications
Description
beryllium and aluminum are two elements, which found applications in nuclear technology. therefore, this work has been carried out to investigate the extraction and separation of beryllium and aluminum using solvent extraction technique. the extraction was carried out from sulfate medium using CYANEX 921, commercial tri-octylphosphine oxide, dissolved in kerosene as extractant. various parameters affecting the extraction process were studied in details for each element. the stripping of the extracted elements and the separation of iron from beryllium/aluminum mixture was investigated . the obtained results were applied to recover pure beryllium from the Egyptian beryl mineral and a flow sheet describing the whole process was developed
