On the effect of discharge conditions in the T-10 tokamak on rotation and locking of MHD perturbation in plasma

Description
Peculiarities of rotation of magnetic island structures in plasma were investigated in the T-10 tokamak. Diagram of operation discharge conditions, under which locking of MHD perturbations took place, was obtained. Conditions with stable reproduction of locking were chosen. Locking of m = 2 mode usually proceeded at high amplitudes of the given perturbation and at its certain spatial orientation. Additional heating of the central region of plasma filament resulted to sufficient increase of rotation rate of m = 2 mode and prevented its locking. This enabled to avoid the development of break-down instability at rather high power of additional heating. 18 refs., 8 figs
