Radiation and chemical oxidation of Ce3+ and reduction of Ce4+ in LiCl solutions during α- and γ-radiolysis

Description

Radiation-chemical oxidation of Ce3+ and reduction of Ce4+ in lithium chloride ((LiCl) = 3-10 M, (HCl) = 0,1-0,2 M) solutions were investigated. It was established that oxidation of Ce3+ being determined by α-radiolysis, reduction - by γ-radiolysis. Output of oxidizing agent - Cl2 - radical during α-radiolysis was higher than the sum of reductant output in euivalents (H2O2,H), and during γ-radiolysis - lower. Rate constant K(Ce3++Cl2-)=(0,8-4,0)x104 l/mol sec
