Device for monitoring a radioactive level measuring gage

Description

The level measuring gage is placed in the wall of a continuous casting mold. It contains a rod-shaped radiation source and a scintillation counter associated with it. The rod source is contained within a cylindrical casing that can be swung from a working position of the rod source to a safety position within a lead shield. By means of a second detector and limit-value control equipment the safety position of the rod source is monitored. (DG)

Abstract (German)

Die Fuellstandsmesseinrichtung ist in der Wandung einer Stranggiesskokille untergebracht und enthaelt einen Stabstrahler und einen diesem zugeordneten Szintillationszaehler. Der Stabstrahler befindet sich in einer zylindrischen Strahlerfassung, welche von einer Arbeitsstellung des Stabstrahlers in eine Sicherheitsstellung innerhalb einer Bleiabschirmung geschwenkt werden kann. Mit einem zweiten Detektor und Grenzwertkontrolleinrichtungen wird die Sicherheitsstellung des Stabstrahlers ueberwacht. (DG)
