Preamble

This annual report, of the Senior Inspector for the nuclear safety, gives to EDF management a state of the art on the safety performances of the french nuclear park in 1998. The following subjects are presented: a panorama 1998 with technical aspects of the nuclear park, performances and radiation protection; the main technical events with the containments, the cooling systems and the defects; the management and the safety; the aging of the nuclear industry with a synthesis of the old nuclear power plants and also the future power plants.
