Description
Experimental investigation of the performance of pressurizer safety valves during single- and two-phase flow has shown that the overall pressurization system reliably prevents excess pressure in the primary system, not only under normal conditions, but also under ATWS conditions. A significant increase in reserve power for valve actuation has been achieved by slight structural modifications for all fluid flow conditions. The main safety valve will open and/or remain open even if the pilot safety valve is unstable in operation. Start-up tests performed by the NPP Grafenrheinfeld utility showed that the findings of these experiments are similar to behaviour under operational conditions. (orig.)

Experimentelle Untersuchungen zur Funktionstuechtigkeit der Druckhalter-Sicherheitsventile bei ein- und zweiphasiger Stroemung haben gezeigt, dass das gesamte Druckhaltesystem nicht nur bei normaler Beanspruchung, sondern auch im ATWS-Stoerfall eine Ueberschreitung des zulaessigen Druckes im Primaerkreis sicher verhindert. Die Strellkraftreserve konnte bei allen Fluidzustaenden durch geringe konstruktive Aenderungen signifikant erhoeht werden. Das Hauptsicherheits-Ventil bleibt selbst dann offen bzw. wuerde oeffnen, wenn das Vorsteuer-Sicherheitsventil instabil arbeitet. Vergleiche mit KKG/BAG-IBS-Versuchen zeigen, dass die Aussagen bezueglich des Funktionsverhaltens sehr betriebsnah sind. (orig.)
