Evolution of the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection
- 1. Swedish Radiation Protection Authority, 171 16 Stockholm (Sweden)
Description
The present recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) were published in 1991. Since then, ICRP has published additional recommendations, and the system of protection has become increasingly complex. ICRP has decided to try to simplify its system and make it more coherent. The new set of recommendations should be seen as a consolidation of earlier recommendations. In the review of the current system of protection, many topics are being looked at and all ICRP Committees are currently addressing issues of relevance for the revision. When ICRP adopts the new recommendations late 2006 or in 2007, 16 years would have passed since the 1990 recommendations were adopted. (authors)
