Description
Titanium nitride coatings on suitable substrates have been shown to produce considerable enhancement of component properties in cutting, wear and corrosion resistant and decorative applications. The process of sputter ion plating is described, some applications of titanium nitride coatings are reviewed and possible reasons for the observed improvements in properties are advanced. (author)
