Optimization analyses of primary water chemistry in PWR

  • 1. Science and Technology on Reactor System Design Technology Laboratory, Nuclear Power Institute of China, Chengdu (China)

Description

The optimization of coolant chemistry to meet site-specific demands becomes increasingly important in light of the movement toward extended fuel cycles, higher duty cores, increasingly stringent dose rate control, decreased refueling outage duration, and reduced operating costs. This paper summarizes the trend and experience of optimization for primary water chemistry in PWRs. The cause and influence of primary water chemistry optimization are analysed. The present research can provide guidance for plant-specific optimal operation in domestic PWRs, give reference for design of primary water chemistry and development of water chemistry programs.
