Description
Uniformly polarized polyvinylidene fluoride PVDF is desirable for many applications. It can be used as sensing element with temperature range of -40 deg. C to 100 deg. C and a frequency range of 10/sup -3/ to 10/sup +9/ Hz. Using PVDF, new structural elements can be designed. An experimental investigation into the possibility of exciting aluminum tubes of different geometries to oscillate at their resonance using a PVDF transducer and to maintain in this condition using a phase lock loop (PLL), is presented here. It is found that complex vibrational modes of somewhat higher frequencies for close-end and open-end tubes respectively lead to the higher output amplitudes. (author)
