Prospective evaluation of Gd-DTPA in 105 consecutive cranial cases
Creators
Description
This prospective study evaluated two facets of Gd-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in 105 consecutive cranial cases: (1) the diagnostic value of the Gd-DTPA-enhanced examination and (2) physician and patient perceptions of adverse reactions. Postcontrast cranial T1-weighted imaging was performed in addition to routing unenhanced imaging. In 40 cases, the Gd-DTPA-enhanced examination was judged to add diagnostic information. In ten cases, it resulted in a diagnosis that otherwise would not have been made. Ninety-six of the 105 patients experienced no adverse reactions, and all the reported reactions were minor, requiring no therapy
