X-ray radiometric testing of copper and zinc using differential filters

Description

In X-ray radiometric testing of copper and zinc in ores with complex compositions, differential filters are typically used to isolate the analytical lines of these elements. During the primary excitation with a radioactive source of Bremsstrahlung, both the scattered radiation from the primary source and the secondary scattered radiation from the studied materials enter the window of the differential filters, which significantly reduces the accuracy of the testing. To account for the contribution of interfering radiation and to clean the window of the differential filters from scattered radiation, the count differences are first measured on a sample that does not contain the element being determined, and the obtained value is subtracted from the main measurement. However, this method is not applicable due to changes in the material composition, density, structure of the studied material, as well as the presence of other factors that lead to changes in scattered radiation. This article proposes a new method for considering the influence of scattered radiation, free from the mentioned drawbacks
