10BF3 filled thermal neutron detectors - a manufacturing experience

10BF3 gas filled detectors (counters) are used for thermal neutron flux measurements in atomic energy plants and nuclear research laboratories. Counters were to be imported till recently; but now, ECIL has reestablished its design, process, manufacture and testing capabilities fully indigenously and reliably on industrial scale. Ten counters thus made were supplied satisfactorily to RSSD, BARC. This paper briefly records certain manufacturing experiences, and also presents the summary of functional results of the counters. It brings out certain proposals for further development and consolidation. (author)
