Description

Available conventional cytogenetic methods, which are time consuming, limit their application in biological dosimetry, especially in radiological emergencies. Therefore, alternative technologies are required. In order to develop a reliable molecular dosimetry, it is necessary to identify sensitive molecular biomarkers. As a first step in this direction, we employed DNA Microarray (Affymetrix Gene Chip PrimeView human gene expression array) technique for complete profiling of gene expression in human peripheral blood lymphocytes exposure to clinically relevant doses of γ-radiation. Detailed analysis of the profile shall help us identify most likely Radiation Response Genes (RRG), which may be used as a molecular bio-marker for achieving the target of future molecular biodosimetry
