An α-cluster rotational band in the 44Ti nucleus

Description
The functions of angular dα correlation in the reaction 40Ca(6Li, d)44Ti(α)40Ca are measured. The results confirm earlier conclusions that the spectrum of the 44Ti nucleus contains an α-cluster rotational band whose even and odd states are not shifted in energy. These data on the α + 40Ca system, together with results obtained earlier for the systems α + 24Mg, α + 28Si, and α + 32S, lead to the conclusion that the formation of α-cluster quasi-molecular bands in light nuclei is a general phenomenon. 10 refs., 6 figs
