Microdosimetric measurements in neutron therapy

Description
The results are presented of microdosimetric measurements in neutron fields using a spherical tissue-equivalent proportional counter; such measurements are usually part of the diagnostics of a therapeutical neutron beam. Dose distribution was measured of lineal energy and linear energy transfer for a 252Cf neutron source and a 14 MeV neutron generator. From the measured values the values of integral parameters were derived which characterize the radiation quality. The results may be used in radiation protection and radiobiology
