Preparation, properties and structure of Di-μ-iodo-bis(Tetracarbonylmolybdenum)(Mo-Mo) and -tungsten(W-W)
Description
Hexacarbonylmolybdenum reacts with SiI 4, hexacarbonyl tungsten with (CH 3) 2 SiI 2, HgI 2, Hg 2 I 2, Ag 2 HgI 4, and iodine to form [(CO) 4 MoI] 2 and [(CO) 4 W I] 2, respectively. These binuclear complexes are diamagnetic, with the iodine atoms serving as bridging ligands between the metal atoms. In addition to spectroscopic investigations, a X-ray structure analysis of [(CO) 4 MoI] 2 was performed, revealing the existence of a Mo-Mo bond.
Abstract (German)
Additional details
