Dependence of single-strand break repair in DNA of γ-irradiated cells of Escherichia coli B on post-irradiation temperature

Description
After gamma irradiation the repair of single-strand breaks in DNA of cells of E. coli B has been investigated at cultivation temperatures of 19, 37 and 440C. The differences in the post-irradiation survival of the bacteria cannot be related to the intensity of the repair of single-breaks induced by gamma radiation. Post-replication repair will proceed more intensively at 440C than at 19 and 370C, if the formation of filaments is strongly depressed
