Description
Louisiana State University has been operating the synchrotron light source at CAMD for two years now. There are presently nine installed bending magnet beamlines covering a wide range of photon energies and applications. The synchrotron presently provides light to the beamlines for 40 h per week. The nominal electron energy for ring operations is 1.3 GeV. It has been operated at energies up to 1.5 GeV with reasonable lifetimes. The ring has achieved full design power, but has not yet achieved the full design current of 400 mA at 1.2 GeV. The maximum current stored to date is 311 mA at 1.3 GeV. We plan to add insertion devices in our two open straight sections and to double our RF power to achieve more flux; this will increase the effective photon-energy range. The full operational status of the synchrotron is discussed along with more detailed plans for the light source. (orig.)
