Description

The compounds DyMn2 and Dy6Mn23 and their ternary hydrides are investigated by means of magnetic measurements and 161Dy Moessbauer spectroscopy. In DyMn2 magnetic ordering disappears after charging with hydrogen gas. In Dy6Mn23 the absorption of hydrogen gas leads to a strong reduction of the bulk magnetization even though the Dy sublattice remains magnetically ordered at low temperatures, with magnetic moments on the Dy atoms close to the free ion values.
