Role of the IAEA Contact Expert Group. Agenda item 12 (Paper in English)
Description
The paper Role of the IAEA Contact Expert Group by the CEG Chairman Alan Heyes described the objectives of the CEG and how its activities complimented the G8 Global Partnership Initiative and other international efforts to enhance nuclear security and safety in Russia. The author assessed the role of CEG as a forum to promote international cooperation, exchange information and share technical views on projects, proposals and wider strategic issues to tackle the nuclear legacy challenges in Russia. Sharing information between regions and programmes could result in substantial cost savings if the lessons learnt in one area could be taken up in the other.
