How to put waste heat to work

Creators

  • 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN

Description

Waste heat from power stations has been dispersed into the environment presenting risk to terrestrial and aquatic environments. Productive uses of waste heat ranging from moderate management of thermal discharges to complete engineering control of the flow of heat for industrial uses are ecological alternatives. Experimental greenhouses, fish cultures, oyster beds, and the promising multipurpose cooling reservoirs offer possibilities of enhancing ecological productivity in ways desirable to man
