On the scattering of polarized electromagnetic radiation due to plasma turbulent pulsations in the presence of a magnetic field

Description

We investigate the Raman scattering processes of polarized electromagnetic radiation due to plasma turbulent pulsations in the presence of a homogeneous magnetic field. Scattering problems of differently-polarized (circularly-polarized, linearly-polarized and unpolarized) electromagnetic radiation due to plasma turbulent pulsations are considered. For each of the above cases we have obtained analytical expressions that relate the Stokes parameters of the incident and scattered radiation in the single scattering event. Our study demonstrated a number of differences of the processes concerned in the presence of a magnetic field from the case of a plasma without a magnetic field. (orig.)
