Description
We present a microscopic calculation of collision between a highly charged ion and a rare-gas atom in the time-dependent local density approximation. In the calculation, the single-electron wavefunctions are represented on a three-dimensional uniform grid in a rectangular box. Ions with eight charges are treated as the core and the norm-conserving pseudopotential is used for the electron-ion interaction. The calculated charge transfer cross sections are in fair agreement with measurements, the semi-empirical formula and the molecular classical over-barrier model. (author). Letter-to-the-editor
