Density limit in neutral beam heated tokamaks

Description

Density limits in ohmically heated tokamaks exist due to abrupt termination of the discharge by major disruptions. With the introduction of neutral beam heating, higher density regions became accessible. We present a simple theory to derive an analytic expression for the scaling of the critical density as a function of control parameters like plasma current and auxiliary heating power. (orig.)
