Photomechanical and photoplastic effects in near-surface layer of CdS crystals
Description
The influence of light on the CdS crystal microhardness is considered. It has been established that mutually opposite effects are observed in dependence of the light spectral composition in a near-surface layer 3 μk thick such as photoplastic effect, appearing in the hardness growth and photomechanical effect, leading to its decrease. The magnitude of each effect taken separately increases while reaching the surface. With CdS crystal lighting by wide spectral composition source both competitive mechanisms can act simultaneously. The photoplastic effect maximum shift to the short-wave region is observed in the near-surface layer in comparison with the volume
