Environmental engineering know-how and international experience recommended the firm ARCADIS Trischler and Partners as a member of project staff when in 1996 the European Commission (EC) was soliciting competent partners for the project in compliance with the TACIS programme and in cooperation with the Ukrainian government and the G7 Working group for nuclear safety. The project was intended to establish the plans and procedures for erecting a containment around the severely damaged and hazardous reactor 4 at Chernobyl that was to guarantee short-term and long-term structural and radiological safety of the reactor and its isolation from the atmosphere. The Darmstadt-based consulting firm was entrusted with the planning task by the EC and the G7 member states and on behalf of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) contributed an essential part to the activities for successful implementation of the project. Mit umwelttechnischem Know-how und internationaler Erfahrung empfahlen sich ARCADIS Trischler and Partner, als die Europaeische Kommission (EC) 1996 im Rahmen des TACIS-Programms und in Abstimmung mit der ukrainischen Regierung und der G7-Arbeitsgruppe fuer nukleare Sicherheit, kompetente Partner suchte, um ein Vorgehenskonzept zur kurz- und langfristigen Sicherung des havarierten Reaktors 4 des Kernkraftwerks Tschernobyl zu erarbeiten. Das Darmstaedter Consultingunternehmen erhielt den Auftrag von EC und G-7-Staaten und hat im EC-Auftrag bzw. fuer die European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) massgeblich dazu beigetragen, dieses beispiellose internationale Projekt erfolgreich zur Implementierung zu bringen.
