Spectrum of prompt characteristic X-rays from fragments of 252Cf spontaneous fission

Spectrum of characteristic X-rays emitted by fragments of 252Cf spontaneous fission within ∼ 40 ns time region from the moment of fission is measured. The Kα-peaks from all the sequence of fragments with the nucleus charge from 40 to 62 clearly manifest themselves in the spectrum for the detector energy resolution 600 eV and fast stopping of fragments after the moment of fission. Analysis of the spectrum yields the contribution to K-radiation coming from light ((30±10)%) and heavy ((70±10)%) fragments of 252Cf fission
