Description
Main principles of the theory of corrosion and passivity of metals and alloys (steel, nickel, zirconium, beryllium, niobium, tungsten and others) are considered. The mechanism of the most dangerous form of corrosion-local as well as corrosion at simultaneous effect of mechanical stresses is described. The influence of operation conditions on corrosion behaviour of structural alloys is shown. The principles of designing metallic alloys of increased resistance are outlined. The properties of the most important structural corrosion resistant alloys are described. The methods for increasing corrosion resistance of alloys used for special purposes by surface alloying, creating of metalloceramic composite materials, obtaining alloys in amorphous state are indicated
